New York is the most consequential emerging gaming market in the US. Three downstate casino licenses are being awarded, targeting sites in NYC and nearby suburbs. When operational, NYC casinos will serve the world's largest tourist market and likely produce the highest-grossing properties outside Las Vegas. Competition for talent will be intense and wages will reflect that.
New York City's cost of living is among the highest globally — housing is the primary challenge. That said, NYC gaming wages will be commensurately the highest in the country, and for experienced gaming professionals this represents a once-in-generation career opportunity. Transit access to casino sites from across the metro is strong.
NYC's three new casino licenses are expected to generate up to $1.5B in annual revenue each — rivaling top Las Vegas Strip properties.
License: New York State Gaming Commission license required. The NYSGC is building out its occupational licensing infrastructure for the new downstate facilities.
